Pakistan’s participation in SCO ushers in new era: SpokespersonBreaking

BEIJING, June 08 (INP): China has said that participation of Pakistan and India in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will usher in a new era and it will take this cooperation to new heights. While answering a question during Press Conference at the media center established for the coverage of the SCO’s 18th annual summit on Friday, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Bureau in Ministry of Public Security China Liao Jinrong said that Pakistan and India are attending the 18th annual summit for the first time. “Pakistan and India are both important countries of the region which are covering major territory and space in the region”, he said. Liao who also acts as conference's spokesperson further said Pakistan and India both are facing threats and both countries will have to play their role for peace and stability of the region in the line of Shanghai Spirit. Both have their own experience and it is new potential for the future cooperation under SCO. This is growing regional network will give them opportunity to work with each other. Both have bigger role to play to meet the expectation of region and international community, he said. This is a biggest opportunity to build a community of shared destiny for mankind, he said adding during the Ministerial level and Secretary level talks held under SCO both countries had contributed a lot for the organization. Security issues are very important and without resolving them , security cooperation cannot be carried forward. SCO to build consensus for the security, stability and prosperity of member Countries, he further said. And with India and Pakistan joining the group last year, the potential for anti-terrorism cooperation has been greatly expanded. The Qingdao summit will undoubtedly help the SCO members improve their capacity for joint security operations and build a more efficient law enforcement cooperation mechanism. INP/WJ/SB
