November 01, 2017

BEIJING, Nov. 1 (INP): Pakistani military is a mainstay of China-Pakistan friendship that showed tremendous progress in the recent years, further strengthening their defence capability. This what stated by senior Colonel Wu Qian, Director General of the Information Office of China's Ministry of National Defense (MND) at a recent news briefing. The statement of the Director General reflected the depth of the two countries’ relations that is termed as a source of peace and stability in the region. With the launching of Pak-China Economic Corridor (CPEC), the bilateral relationship of the two countries have now entered into a new phase, giving equal importance to their socio-economic ties. This multilateral relationship that met the common aspirations of their people is also described as perfect model of country-to-country relations World over. The two sides are like iron brothers, as once described by President Xi Jinping. If we characterize the China-Pakistan military-to-military relationship with three key words, they will be the all-weather brotherhood, high-level mutual assistance and support, and deep-rooted strategic mutual trust. About the characteristics of the recently held sixth joint training exercise code-named “Shaheen-VI” of the two air forces, Colonel Wu Qian summarized it into five “firsts”. Namely, it is the first time for the two sides to conduct joint confrontation training at night in China; the first time to carry out close-in support operations; the first time to organize real-combat target practice during the joint training exercise; the first time to introduce elements of naval aviation and the airborne special operation units, etc.; and also the first time to have pilots from the two sides to fly one plane in the confrontation training. Compared with the previous ones, there were more forces and elements in this joint training exercise, and the combat system was set up in a more perfect way, Col. Wu added. INP/J/AH
