CPEC to prove as game changer :Pakistan is now peaceful with a bright future: Ahsan IqbalBreaking

KARACHI, Dec 12 (INP) Minister for Interior and Planning, Ahsan Iqbal has said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will prove as game changer in energy, economic and infrastructure development in the country. Addressing a seminar on China Pakistan Economic Corridor in Karachi on Tuesday, he said through CPEC the dream of producing cheap energy from Thar coal deposits in Sindh is being materialized. Ahsan Iqbal said rail and road network is being laid across the country to connect Gwadar with China and other parts of the country which will boost regional connectivity and generate economic activities. He said a modern fiber optical cable is also being laid which will bring revolution in digital information system. The Minister said besides coal and hydel power projects, focus is also on tapping renewable energy potential of the country through solar and wind. He commended China for trusting Pakistan in difficult times and said China signed on the project at a time when the world did not trust Pakistan. “Now Pakistan is peaceful with a bright future,” he said, observing that Asia is the next economic powerhouse of the world. “The assistance which the United States, Europe provided at the time of the fall of Berlin Wall, China is doing that now,” he noted, as he termed the CPEC “a mix of our 2025 Plan and the One Belt One Road project.” Later talking to media persons in Karachi, Ahsan Iqbal, who is also Interior Minister, said that the backbone of terrorists has been broken and the country has been put on right path. He said law and order in Karachi has been restored and action against criminal elements is in progress in the city. He said that government will not allow to destabilize the country through conspiracy. To a question, Ahsan Iqbal said MQM (Pakistan) is a democratic force and it is its right to take part in democratic process. To another question, the Interior Minister dispelled the impression that the federal government is not providing share of water projects to Karachi. Replying yet another question, Ahsan Iqbal said elections will be held on time next year and democratic process will continue to work in the country. Deputy Chief of the Chinese Mission in Pakistan, Lijian Zhao while addressing the event, said China’s present is Pakistan’s future.
