BEIJING, Sept. 7 (INP): The Defense Day of Pakistan was celebrated here on Thursday at the Pakistan Embassy with traditional enthusiasm and solemnity.

Maj. Gen. Jiang Qianming of the People’s Liberation Army was the chief guest on the occasion.

Pakistan’s ambassador to China Masood Khalid on the occasion spoke about the significance of the Day and the sacrifices, rendered by the Pakistan’s armed forces in the defence of the motherland.

“The Armed Forces and people of Pakistan have rendered enormous sacrifices to make our region and this world peaceful. The ongoing military campaigns have dealt a powerful blow to terrorists and miscreants, he added. He also highlighted the growing Sino-Pak cooperation the defence sector.

People of all walks of life including those from PLA, diplomatic circles, think tanks, media as well as Pakistani community members attended the event. INP/J
