BEIJING, Aug 17 (INP): State Counselor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has assured that China will work with Prime Minister Imran Khan with same spirit and zeal, taking all-round their strategic partnership to a new height.

He held out this assurance while talking with the Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani.

Wang hailed that Pakistan has just held a successful general election, "It is believed that under the leadership of the new government, Pakistan will make new achievements in national construction."

China and Pakistan should jointly push forward the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and constantly enrich the connotation of the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership," Wang Yi asserted.

He said that no matter how the international and regional situations change, China will firmly adhere to the policy of friendship with Pakistan.

"CPEC, a landmark project of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Pakistan, will certainly help Pakistan develop its economy, improving its people's livelihood," he added.

"China is willing to support Pakistan to uphold its sovereignty and right to development, make joint efforts with Pakistan to boost the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, as well as to deepen the bilateral all-weather strategic cooperative partnership," Wang added.

Sanjrani responded that friendship with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy and the consensus of all parties. Pakistan would always uphold a friendly policy towards China, which was the consensus reached by all parties in Pakistan and a cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy.

The new government is ready to work with China to push forward the construction of Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

"The Pakistan side hopes to learn China's valuable experience in economic development, poverty alleviation, anti-graft campaigns and many other areas. It is looking forward to seeing China continuing to play a positive role in improving neighboring countries relationship and relief the country's outside pressure," Sanjrani noted. INP/J/AJ
