China-Pakistan Friendship Square unveiled in WuhanBreaking

Hubei (INP): The China-Pakistan Friendship Square, a symbol marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan, was unveiled on Nov. 2, in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province.

Pakistani ambassador to China Moin ul Haque, local government officials, representatives from cities, universities and enterprises of the province attended the event.

Situated at Wuhan’s city center Hankow Riverside Park, the square covers a land area of 10,000 square meters, facing the Yangtze River. It is a combination of Chinese and Pakistan elements and special treasures including the typical colors red and green representing both countries, markhor, Chinese sturgeon, castles of Pakistan.

“This beautiful Friendship Square is the first of its kind in China. It manifests iron-clad friendship and strong brotherhood between Pakistan and China,” the ambassador said in his speech at the unveiling ceremony, adding that a similar Friendship Square is being established in Karachi and it will be inaugurated soon.

Under the witness of domestic and foreign guests, Wuhan and Yiling respectively signed letters of intent to establish friendly exchange relationship with Karachi and Kahuta, Pakistan, while Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Landing-med, a medical device company in Wuhan, signed cooperation agreements with their Pakistani counterparts the University of Applied Engineering and Emerging Technologies (UAEET) and Life Rehealth Technology Pakistan.

Together with the Friendship Square and the newly established friendly relationships, the ambassador showed his expectation that Pakistan and Hubei will strengthen and deepen pragmatic cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, water resource management, science & technology and particularly the people-to-people exchanges.

In recent years, Hubei has fully participated in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and has laid a good foundation for cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of infrastructure construction, agriculture, science and technology, and communications. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
