China attaches great importance to protection of human rights: SpokespersonBreaking

October 12, 2018

BEIJING, Oct. 12 (INP): The Chinese government has always attached great importance to the promotion and protection of human rights. Chinese citizens enjoy broad rights and freedoms in accordance with the law. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Lu Kang at a regular news briefing here on Friday. Commenting on US’s leader remarks, accusing China on question of human rights, he said as World has seen, in the past 40 years of reform and opening up, China’s human rights cause has made historic progress. China has reduced more than 700 million poor people and provided employment for 770 million people. He added, “Nearly 800 million citizens in China supervise the work of governments at all levels through various Internet platforms. Nearly 200 million citizens of all ethnic groups in China believe in various religions, more than 380,000 faculty members, and more than 140,000 places of religious activity registered in accordance with the law. These data are a true portrayal of the rights and freedoms enjoyed by the Chinese people. We have said many times that human rights are not the best, only better. China will continue to adhere to the human rights development path in line with its own national conditions, adhere to the promotion and protection of human rights in development, and promote the coordinated development of economic, social and cultural rights and civil and political rights. At the same time, we must point out that no country has absolute and borderless freedom of human rights. Anyone who enjoys the freedom of human rights must abide by the Constitution and laws, and must not be exposed to criminal activities in the guise of human rights and freedom. The United States has its own human rights issue, and has also withdrawn from relevant UN human rights institutions and has no right to slap on other countries. We advise the US side to reflect on the massive violations of human rights that exist in its own country, instead of using the so-called human rights issue as a political tool to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.” INP/J/AJ
