Pretoria Capitals’ opener Will Jacks struck a quickfire half-century after bowlers booked Durban’s Super Giants for a mere 80 in the 15th fixture of the ongoing SA20. After opting to bat first, the Super Giants’ batting lineup failed completely and bundled out for a paltry 80 runs in the 19th over. The home side lost wickets at regular intervals that halted their expedition towards a big total. Amid a frustrating show with the bat, Henrich Klaasen fought back with a gritty 31-run knock after captain Quinton de Kock (13) and Jason Holder (10) put on a brief fight.
Besides them, none of their batters could amass double figures as they seemed clueless against the Capitals’ bowling attack. Senuran Muthusamy led the bowling attack for the Capitals with 3/12, while Wayne Parnell, Anrich Nortje and Eathan Bosch bagged two wickets each.
Set to chase a skimpy total, Jacks’ quickfire half-century led the Capitals to victory in just the eighth over with eight wickets to spare. The right-handed batter scored a quick 56 off just 25 deliveries, hitting five boundaries and four sixes and put on an important 78-run partnership with Theunis de Bruyn (21) before perishing in the seventh over.
