Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf on Thursday took over as the new Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman. Zaka arrived at the PCB headquarters where he was welcomed by senior officials of the Board. The new chairman mingled with the PCB staff. Zaka Ashraf had been appointed as the chairman of the newly formed management committee of the PCB yesterday. Zaka, who enjoys the support of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), will oversee the affairs of the PCB with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is PCB’s patron-in-chief. The Management Committee consists of ten members namely Kalimullah Khan, Ashfaq Akhtar, Mussadiq Islam, Azmat Parvez, Zaheer Abbas, Khurram Soomro, Khawaja Nadeem, Mustafa Ramday and Zulfiqar Malik. Earlier, Najam Sethi, who enjoyed the support of the PML-N, was the Board chairman. However, he had to relinquish the post after remaining in office for a few months after the PPP insisted it had the right to appoint the PCB chairman.
