Tehzeeb Festival to be started from SaturdayBreaking

November 04, 2022

The 13th Tehzeeb Festival will be held at the National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa) Tuesday on Nov 5 and Nov 6. Speaking to the media, Napa CEO Junaid Zuberi said this weekend (Nov 5 and 6) Napa and Tehzeeb Foundation will be collaborating to hold the 13th edition of the festival.

Providing the media with the details of the event, the president of the foundation, Sharif Awan said Tehzeeb Foundation was formed 14 years back and ever since it’s been organising the festival regularly. He corrected Mr Zuberi who had claimed that it’s for the first time that the academy and the foundation were collaborating to arrange the event on the former’s premises. “It’s for the third time that the festival is being held here.”

Mr Awan said Karachi is an interesting city where despite unfavourable circumstances, cultural activities keep happening. Be it a literary function or an exhibition of paintings, they keep taking place. “Classical music has a limited audience. Also, the last two and a half years were strange.

He said it’s a two-day event in which, apart from Pakistani artists, musicians from India and Afghanistan will also be seen in action. “[Sitar player] Ashraf Sharif Khan who lives in Germany will display his art as well. In the last six months, we had invited some professional recordings.

This festival was supposed to be held three months earlier but didn’t because of the rains. The recordings will be played in the festival. And the artists who will perform live have been mentioned on the invitation cards to the programme. This time around, we have included new young musicians.”
