Pakistan Railways (PR) Rawalpindi Division showed an excellent performance in the financial year 2022-23 as it has generated revenue more than Rs 5.20 billion as it was additional Rs. 64 million of set target. It was Rs 1 billion additional as compare to previous financial year 2021-22. Moreover, the outsource trains income of Rawalpindi division was not included in the above mentioned generated revenue. Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways Rawalpindi Inam Mehsud congratulated the entire team for achieving a record revenue in the history of Rawalpindi Division. According to the official documents available to INP, the revenue of more than Rs. 5.20 billion was earned in the financial year 2022-23. Rawalpindi division has set a target of Rs 4. 5593 billion by the headquarters.
Till June 30, 2023 Rawalpindi division has achieved 114% revenue of the target. In the financial year 2021-22, Rawalpindi division had earned more than Rs 4 billion. Rawalpindi Division was given a passengers earning target of Rs. 2469.597 million by the headquarters, while the income was Rs 2494.280 million, which is 101% of the given revenue target. The target of e-ticket was Rs 889.51 million, while the income was Rs. 1093.493 million, which was 122.93% of the given revenue target. In terms of other charges, the target was Rs. 76.397 million, while the income was Rs. 56.314 million, which was 73% of the target. The target for freight was Rs. 289.465 million, while the income was Rs 359.883 million, which was 124.33% of the target revenue. The target for Sundry was Rs 198.381 million.
While the income has reached Rs 376.136 million, which is 189.6% of the target, the target of P&L Sundry was Rs 636 million, while the income has become Rs 823.523 million, which is 129.4% of the target. In the fiscal year 2021-22, the target was Rs 4106.088 million and the revenue was Rs 4234.010 million. Thus, compared to the previous fiscal year, Rawalpindi Division has earned Rs 1 billion additional. It was worth mentioned here that the train operation was restricted due to floods in the last financial year 2022-23, yet the Rawalpindi Division collected an excess of Rs. 1 billion. While talking with INP DS Railway Rawalpindi Division Inam Mehsud stated, “I am thankful to God that we have achieved 114% of the revenue target of Rawalpindi Division. And in the financial year 2022-23, we have created a record by earning more than 5 billion rupees. I congratulate our entire team for this. “It was not possible without the cooperation of the Ministry of Railways to achieve the revenue target, he added. (Muhammad Awais)
