Police detain teenage boy over invite for ‘aerial firingBreaking

Okara police briefly detained a teenage boy after an inappropriate social media post announcing an “aerial firing” event on the death anniversary of Indian singer Sidhu Moosewala — who was shot dead last year — went viral. According to media the media reports, the incident happened when a boy named  Sharjeel announced on social media to hold an aerial firing event on the death anniversary of Indian rapper Sindhu Moosewala who was shot dead last year on May 29, prompting police to detain him.

However, he was released hours later, considering the boy’s young age with a warning to practice caution in the future. The 15-year-old boy had also said in the social media post that he would organize an annual khatam (recitation of Quran) and invited the entire Jutt community as well as the thugs. Later, Sharjeel said he had posted the invitation only with the intention of mischief and he did not actually intend to go ahead with the event, as he regretted his move and tendered an apology.
