The contractual employees of Grade 17 and 18 in Directorate General of Immigration & Passports have lodged their protest and expressed strong resentment for not being regularized even after getting through Federal Public Service Commission examination.  They were seeking justice for past fifteen years but no one paying attention on this alarming issue despite highlighting the issue several times. In a statement issued on Wednesday these contract employees inducted in phase one and two have made a compassionate appeal to the Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah that they after fulfilling all the requirements have not been regularized despite passage of more than 15 years. “We have being passing through a state of pain and mental agony as our future is still in doldrums”, they added.

 The statement added they had been recruited on contract in the directorate at the time when Digital Passport Project was launched 14 years back. “We worked day and night in making the project successful, but despite passage of this long time they have not being regularized which amounts to denying their legal and constitutional rights. After making request for several time and running from pillar to post for achievement of their rights they were moved to court of law for seeking justices. After conducting hearing the court in its order asked the directorate to regularize the contract employees through the Federal Public Service Commission.

After adopting dilly delaying tactics, somehow examination was held but some elements in the directorate for their vested interests, in connivance with some high level officials who were serving in the directorate on deputation managed to withhold the result. However, after lodging protest by the affectees the commission announced the result of the unsuccessful candidates, only.

In the meantime, few un-regularised employees using their personal channels got themselves clear from the commission and regularized themselves, leaving others in high and dry.    At least four governments have governed the country during this period but still they are striving to get justice, they expressed their resentment. They said that for the last 15 years their future is hang imbalance and made a compassionate appeal to provide them justice so that they perform their duty with sound state of mind.
