LHC sustains registrar’s objection to Imran’s plea seeking cases’ dismissalBreaking

April 05, 2023

The Lahore High Court has sustained the registrar’s office objection over PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s petition seeking dismissal of cases registered against him. A two-judge LHC bench headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard the petition on Wednesday. During case proceeding, the court sustained the registrar’s office objection.

Imran’s lawyer said that he would remove the objection.  The registrar’s office objected that the petitioners have not attached the certified copies of the FIRs along with the petition. The plea named both Imran and the PTI as petitioners. It said that the government was misusing the criminal justice system to stop the PTI chief from participating in the upcoming elections.

The petition named the federation of Pakistan, province of Punjab, Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar, Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment DG, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, National Accountability Bureau, Federal Investigation Agency, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as respondents.
