Islamabad’s Red Zone sealed ahead of PTI protest outside ECP officeBreaking

August 05, 2022

In view of the protest announced by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office in Islamabad Thursday, all roads, barring Margallah Road, leading to the federal capital’s Red Zone have been sealed by placing containers on them on the orders of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah. Due to the closure of all five routes from Serena Chowk to the Red Zone on Thursday, people have been experiencing lot of inconvenience. Police, Rangers and the district administration have been directed to ensure that none of the protestors enter the Red Zone, which is federal capital’s most sensitive area since some important buildings are located there, including those of Parliament House, President House and the Supreme Court. PTI, the former ruling party, had announced a few days ago that it would protest outside the ECP building against what they said the latter’s biased decisions against the party.
