A meeting led by Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Monday approved free treatment of public and domestic workers in the emergency wards of social security hospitals. The Punjab government will pay the expenses of the treatment of domestic workers in social security hospitals, it was decided in the meeting. Domestic workers will also be able to get treatment in social security hospitals on the health card, and payment will be made by the Punjab government if the expenses of the treatment exceed the health card’s limit. The meeting also decided to give a grant of Rs200 million to the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution to ensure the treatment of domestic workers. Digital cards will also be issued to the patients of social security hospitals on the instructions of the caretaker chief minister. Provincial ministers including Dr Javed Akram, Aamir Mir and Mansoor Qadir and officers concerned attended the meeting. Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir attended the meeting through video link.
