Cyclone Biparjoy threatens Sindh’s coastal areasBreaking

Cyclone Biparjoy that developed in the Arabian Sea a few days back, and which further intensified during the last 24 hours might pose a threat to the coastal areas of Sindh, including Karachi, if it continued to move in north-easterly direction, weather pundits said on Saturday. According to the weather department, the storm currently lies 910 kilometers south of Karachi. The system was likely to keep tracking further north-eastward and then north-westward during the next 24 hours, said the department.

Hot, humid weather predicted for Karachi:

On the other hand, weather in Karachi was hot and humid. It was 32 degrees Celsius in the morning, while the humidity level was recorded at 58 per cent. It was 29 degrees Celsius on the minimum side. Breeze was blowing from south-westerly direction at the speed of 10 nautical miles. The weather department forecast that the temperature would shoot up to 36 degrees Celsius later in the day. It also forecast hot and sultry weather for the port city during the next 24 hours.

Hot weather persists in Lahore:

On the other hand, it was quite hot in Lahore on Saturday morning as temperature shot up to 33 degrees Celsius, making it difficult for the people to step outside of their homes. The Met Office predicted the temperature to go up to 38 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. The air quality index (AQI) stood at 165, while breeze was blowing at the speed of 10 kilometers per hour. The moisture level in the air stood at 49 per cent. The weather department said that there were 40 per cent chances of rain in the city during the next 24 hours.
