Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, former Capital City Police Officer Lahore reached the age of superannuation on Sunday. He became controversial during his last field posting owing to his alleged political role in the PTI government. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar also remained the head of the joint investigation team (JIT) probing into the assassination attempt on former prime minister Imran Khan in Wazirabad.

He also proposed departmental action against four senior members of the panel for allegedly handling the probe unprofessionally and damaging the high-profile case. The federal government had transferred and suspended Mr Dogar, but he didn't leave the posting after obtaining the court orders. Then, AIG Dogar was removed from the post of the CCPO Lahore by the caretaker government. He was later restored by the court and was placed at the services of the Establishment Division of the federal government. The senior police officer also faced a lot of criticism for filing a case against federal ministers.
