Warid Telecom reigned PSX in 2022

Warid Telecom Limited (WTL) reigned the PSX top five symbol chart throughout the calendar year (Jan to Dec) 2022, crowning itself as the most actively traded stock for the year 2022, reports WealthPK. Among all the listed companies on the PSX, a total of 16 symbols marked their names in the top five chart as the most active symbols of calendar year 2022.

WTL remained the most active stock on the PSX for seven out of 12 times on a monthly basis in CY22. However, it positioned itself in the monthly top five symbols chart for 11 out of 12 times with a trade volume of 6.7 billion from Jan 22 through Dec 22.

During CY22, WTL experienced the highest trade volume of 2.9 billion in October 22. With a market capitalisation of Rs3.8 billion, WTL is the ninth-largest company of the technology and communication sector listed on the PSX.

The runner up stock – CY22

The second most active firm on the PSX for the year 2022 remained Cnergyico PK limited (CNERGY) which is the second-largest company of the refinery sector with a market capitalisation of Rs20.8 billion.

The total volume traded by CNERGY in the CY22 reported to be 2.3 billion. CNERGY led the whole PSX for two out of 12 times in April and May 22, consecutively. Whereas, CNERGY reported in the monthly top 5 chart for eight out of 12 times. CNERGY gained the highest trade volume of 524 million in April 22.

The third and fourth – CY22

K Electric Limited (KEL) remained the third-highest traded stock with the total trade volume of 1.9 billion and the sole representative of the power generation and distribution sector in the top 5 symbols chart during 2022.

However, it led the whole PSX in August 22 with the peaked trade volume of 597 million shares. With a market capitalisation of Rs74.0 billion, KEL is the second largest company listed in the power generation and distribution sector of PSX.

Hascol Petroleum Limited (HASCOL) with the total trade volume of 1.4 billion shares positioned as the fourth most active stock of the year 2022. It is the only member that participated in top 5 chart from oil and gas marketing companies during the whole 2022. With a market cap of Rs6.6 billion, HASCOL is the seventh-largest company in the oil and gas marketing sector on the PSX.

HASCOL reported the highest trade volume of 425 million shares in Nov 22 and appeared on the top 5 symbols chart for the five times from the month of Aug 22 to Dec 22, consecutively.

The fifth and sixth – CY22

Telecard Limited (TELE) remained the fifth most traded stock on the PSX in the year 2022. With a market cap of Rs2.4 billion, TELE is the 10th-largest company in the technology and communication sector. It reported to be the second representative from the technology and communication sector in the top five symbol chart published by the PSX in calendar year 2022.

TELE’s total number of shares traded on the PSX during the CY22 reported to be 1.2 billion in number whereas the month of highest trade of 330 million shares was April 22. TELE marked its way for the five times in CY22 from Jan 22 to May 22 consecutively.

With the total trade volume of 1.0 billion shares in the CY22, TRG Pakistan Limited (TRG) positioned itself as the sixth most active symbol on the PSX. TRG with a market cap of Rs60.5 billion is the second-largest company and the third representative of technology and communication sector in the monthly top five symbols chart.

TRG led the whole PSX in terms of trade volume for once in the month of Sep 22 with a trade volume of 307 million shares. However, three out of 12 times TRG symbol appeared in the top five symbol chart in the CY22.

Seventh and onwards – CY22

Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) appeared thrice on the PSX top five symbol chart and remained the seventh most active stock during CY22.

PRL is the second representation of the refinery sector in the top five symbol chart from its respective sector in the calendar year 2022.

TPLP and GGL solely represented the property and chemical sector on the PSX top five symbol chart and remained the eighth- and ninth-highest traded stock during the calendar year 2022.

Hum Network Limited (HUMNL) positioned as the 10th most active stock with a total trade volume of 619 million shares and appeared 3 times in the top five symbol chart in the CY22.

Other stocks which marked their way to the top five symbols during CY22 included UNITY from food and personal care products, GTECH from technology and communication, whereas BAFL and BOP were the only two representatives of commercial banks.

PAEL from the cable and electrical goods and DFML from automobiles assemblers also reported one time each in the top five active symbols chart in the calendar year 2022.
