Vlog: Chongqing Smart Healthcare Leads Forefront in Patient Experience

August 20, 2021

Chongqing (INP):  The Smart China Expo (SCE 2021) will be held at the Chongqing International Expo Center from August 23-25. It will continue on the established theme of ‘Smart Technology: Empowering the Economy and Enriching Life.’

Over 610 companies are taking part in the exhibition both on and offline, with a physical exhibition area that covers around 70,000 square meters. Meanwhile, 133 prominent guests have received invitations to the event, including leaders from global industry, award-winning scientists, and renowned scholars.

They will hold in-depth cooperation and exchange held on the theme of economics and trade and major project signing ceremonies involving countries, Belt and Road enterprises, international organizations, sister cities, and industry leaders.

At the same time, the benefits of smart technology are playing an ever more integral role in the lives of everyday people, and one development that has brought great convenience to a traditionally stressful experience is that of smart medical care access.

iChongqing reporter takes you on a visit to a local clinic in the Yuanyang community of Yubei District, followed by the First People’s Hospital of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, so you can witness how smart technology has made a difference on multiple levels.

Highlights of the visit include a multi-purpose self-service machine that allows patients to manage the whole medical care process. Patients can scan their ID cards to register their personal details immediately and then make appointments, conduct payments, inquire about medicines, and arrange in-patient care.

Only a few years ago, this process would have been completed through individual steps at designated service booths, an experience that made hospital visits a complicated and time-consuming endeavor at a time when people are in most need of a streamlined service.

Thanks to such technology, including self-service medication dispensers and smart printout terminals for scanned images, patients often now only require a single hospital visit for medical consultation. The rest can be handled personally by user-friendly machines and applications.

Furthermore, remote diagnosis applications mean that patients can access medical care through a local clinic without visiting a large hospital that could involve a long journey. Remote connection means that images can be transmitted to expert doctors for diagnosis in major hospitals when capacity or availability is lacking.
