BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese health authority said Tuesday that it received reports of 36 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Monday, including 30 locally-transmitted ones.
Of the locally-transmitted cases, 28 were reported in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and two in Liaoning Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.
On Monday, six new imported cases were also reported. Of the cases, four were reported in Guangdong Province, and one in Shanghai Municipality and Sichuan Province each, the commission said.
One new suspected COVID-19 case imported from outside the mainland was reported in Shanghai.
No deaths related to the disease were reported Monday.
On Monday, 17 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, the commission said.
By the end of Monday, a total of 2,098 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,001 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 97 remained hospitalized, with two in serious conditions. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.
As of Monday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland had reached 84,464, including 800 patients who were still being treated, with 36 in severe conditions.
Altogether 79,030 people had been discharged after recovery, and 4,634 had died of the disease on the mainland, the commission said.
There were still five suspected COVID-19 cases, it added.
According to the commission, 547 close contacts were newly discharged from medical observation and there were 21,743 close contacts still under medical observation.
Also on Monday, 21 new asymptomatic cases, including 12 from outside the mainland, were reported, and two asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed ones.
The commission said 264 asymptomatic cases, including 112 from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation. ■
