Unilever Pakistan Limited’s sales increased 36% to Rs19.7 billion in the nine months ending September 30, 2022 from Rs14.5 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. Similarly, gross profit registered a 30% growth in 9MCY22 to clock in at Rs8.17 billion compared to Rs6.29 billion in the corresponding period of CY21. The profit-before-tax also increased 36% to Rs5.09 billion in 9MCY22 from Rs3.73 billion over the same period of CY21. The profit-after-tax increased 33% year-on-year to Rs4.81 billion in 9MCY22 from Rs3.61 billion in 9MCY21, reports WealthPK.

Performance in 2021

During the calendar year 2021, the company’s gross sales stood at Rs19.82 billion, up 27% over Rs15.57 billion in 2020.  The gross profit increased 34% to Rs8.91 billion in 2021 from Rs6.67 billion in 2020.  The profit-before-tax for CY21 moved up to Rs5.42 billion from Rs4.05 billion in CY20, showing a year-on-year increase of 34%. The profit-after-tax for CY21 stood at Rs5.16 billion compared to Rs3.83 billion in CY20, posting an increase of 35%.

Earnings Per Share

The company’s earnings per share stood at Rs25.79 in 2018. The EPS moved up to Rs40.07 in 2019 and to Rs56.44 in 2020. However, it plunged to Rs34.71 in 2021.

Shareholding

As of December 31, 2021, directors, the chief executive officer, their spouses and minor children owned 6.23% of the total shares of the company. Associated companies, undertakings, and related parties owned 76.55% of the shares. The local individuals from the general public owned 17.1%.

The company’s operating profit and profit before and after tax have continued to increase since 2016, reflecting its healthy performance over the years.
