The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has been imparting the latest market-driven and technology-oriented technical skills to the youth to enable them to earn livelihoods, WealthPK reports.
The training has been provided to them under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme.
Sajid Baloch, the executive director of NAVTTC, told journalists that Pakistan has a significantly large pool of talented youth, who are potential human resources. He said that NAVTTC as per the vision of the government is equipping the youth with income-generating skills for economic development and productivity.
So far NAVTTC under the guidance of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has imparted training to about 379,350 youths, according to a press release received by WealthPK.
About 98,000 youth have been trained in 989 institutes as certified skilled professionals in artificial intelligence, robotics and cyber security. Almost 71% of the trainees are employed now.
NAVTTC is contributing to the national human resource development and has generated a large number of employment opportunities for skilled youths, benefiting the individuals as well as the national economy.
The government is focusing on imparting quality and demand-driven skills to the youth. NAVTTC under the guidance of Minister for Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain, has taken various steps to organise the skills and vocational education and training system of the country on modern lines. It is imparting premium training to the youth as per international standards.
Under the National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQF), NAVTTC has developed 200 qualifications and 46,725 individuals have been certified and mainstreamed through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Matric-Tech Programme, which is a fusion of formal with technical education, has opened new horizons for the youth seeking early employment. The programme was launched on a pilot basis in 15 formal education schools of Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The international accreditation of 10 Pakistani institutes has been achieved and 535 national TVET institutes have been accredited so far while 50 smart laboratories and 500 classrooms have been set up with the support of China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
NAVTTC has also established 10 countries of destination (CoD) specific facilitation centres to ensure effective mobilisation of skilled workforce overseas.
