Thal Express Back on Track After Two Years

April 25, 2022

By Syed Marwan Shah ISLAMABAD, April 25, (INP-WealthPK): The Pakistan Railways Thal Express is back on track in collaboration with the private sector, reports WealthPK. Divisional Superintendent (DS) of Pakistan Railways (PR) Rawalpindi Division Mr. Inamullah, representatives of Imran Enterprise Administration and other key railway officials inaugurated the train service at the Rawalpindi Railway Station on Friday. It was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The train comprises one air-conditioned (AC) standard and seven economy class coaches, one brake van, and one power car. Power cars are a highly specialized type of railroad locomotive. The purpose of a typical loco is to move the attached cars and to provide electricity to the passenger coaches. The train also has a cargo facility. Mr Inamullah said the restoration of train service was a great gift for the people of Golra, Taxila, Hassan Abdal, Attock, Basal, Jund, Daud Khel, Mianwali, Kundian, Bhakar, Kot Addu, and Muzaffargarh before Eidul Fitr. After a decade of hiatus, former prime minister Imran Khan had relaunched the train in 2019. The train service was suspended due to financial losses and shortage of locomotives.
