The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to offer tenders for four “Integrated Tourism Zones” at different locations to promote tourism in the province. The provincial government is taking extra steps to revive the tourism industry of the province. Following the policy of elevating KPK as the prime tourist destination in the country, the provincial government will arrange a road show in Karachi later this month, followed by road shows in Lahore and Islamabad.

Additionally, investors’ conference will also be arranged in order to attract investment in the tourism sector of the province. The information was shared during a meeting of the tourism department chaired by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mehmood Khan, here in Peshawar. During the meeting, the Chief Minister was briefed on the progress of the ongoing projects and reforms in the tourism department.

The meeting was also informed that feasibility study on the Boyun Ski Resorts and Hund park has already been completed. These projects will be completed under a public-private partnership. In addition, the master plan for the Hund Park has also been completed. The meeting was further told that 329 informational sign boards have also been put up at various spots across the province to help the tourists reach their desired destinations.

Mehmood Khan congratulated the tourism department for securing the first position in the Lok Virsa Festival held in Islamabad. He said that his government is working tirelessly to revive the tourism industry of the province. He said, “KPK offers some of the world’s best tourism sites. We are working to make these natural parks accessible through the construction of roads and provision of basic amenities.” He added, “reviving the tourism industry will also create jobs for local people and help in the growth of the national economy.”

He continued, “we are working on improving the existing tourist spots besides developing new ones so as to attract local and international tourists. We are also working to ensure the security of tourists through the establishment of a tourism police.” The meeting was also attended by the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Amjad Ali Khan; Secretary Tourism, Tahir Orakzai; Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, and other senior officials from the tourism department.
