Students urged to take lead for development, progress

Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan has called on the student body of the country to take the lead in the process of development and progress. He was speaking to the participants of the workshop titled, “Small business start-up and management workshop for scholars under USAID-funded merit and need based scholarship program.”

The workshop was organized by the UAF Directorate of Financial Assistance and University Advancement in collaboration with the USAID and HEC. He said that students must take charge of their lives and learn new skills to compete with their peers from around the world.

He said, “it is very important that our youth imbibe the ideas of entrepreneurship, innovation, hard work, integrity and commitment so that they can play their role in the development of our country.” Dr Iqrar said that his university is providing ample scholarships to deserving students so that they could realize their dreams of education and contribute towards the development of the country.

He highlighted the admission policy of the university on the basis of urban-rural quota to give proportionate representation to students from both the urban and rural areas respectively. He added that, “our curriculum is based on the latest research in the different fields of agriculture. We are preparing our students in the most advanced methods of agricultural production so that they can implement these methods for maximum yields.”

He said that students must understand their role as leaders of the future and torchbearers of community service.Program Coordinator of the USAID-funded merit and need-based scholarship program Madiha Anwar Butt said that students must be helped in every way possible so that they can reach the maximum of their intellectual potential.

Director Financial Assistance & University Advancement Dr Muhammad Ahsan Khan; Dr Aqsa Shabbir from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU); Dr Shahzad Murtaza, Muhammad Ehsan; Assistant Director Financial Assistance Waqar Akbar, and other members of academia also expressed their opinions during the workshop.
