Sports goods exports rise by 25.51%

The export of sports items from the country increased by 25.51% in the first seven months of the current fiscal year (2022-23) compared to the equivalent months of the previous year, according to statistics issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The country exported sports items worth $242.074 million during July-January (2022-23) as opposed to $192.874 million during July-January (2021-22), indicating a rise of 25.51%.

Football exports increased by 49.48% this year, from $93.186 million to $139.296 million. Nevertheless, the exports of gloves decreased by 2.57%, from $44.614 million last year to $43.466 million this year. Similarly, exports of all other sporting items climbed by 7.69%, from $55.074 million to $59.312 million, from the previous year.

In contrast, the export of sporting products increased 14.84% year over year in January 2023 compared to the export in the same month of the previous year. January 2023 saw exports of sporting goods totalling $33.393 million, compared to January 2022, when exports of sporting goods were $29.077 million.

The export of footballs and all other sports goods grew during the period under review by 27.19% and 22.55%, respectively, while the export of gloves decreased by 18.59%. The month-over-month decline in sports products exports during January 2023 was 1.68% compared to the exports of $33.963 million in December 2022. The exports of footballs and gloves declined by 2.72% and 15.85%, respectively, month over month, while the exports of other sports-related goods rose by 12.055%.
