Solidarity is the Most Powerful Weapon in the Fight against COVID-19

BEIJING : The virus will be defeated. Humanity will win this battle! "Since the outbreak of COVID-19, NIA has given full play to its functions, closely communicating with its foreign counterparts between senior level, strengthening information-sharing on the pandemic with neighboring countries, promoting joint control in border areas, and resolutely winning the battle against imported cases. At the beginning of the outbreak, in response to the excessive restrictions imposed by some countries on the entry of Chinese citizens, NIA reacted swiftly and took the initiative to send notes to the immigration and border control departments of 50 countries, informing them of China's COVID-19 control measures and putting forward work suggestions. Subsequently, XU Gansu, Vice-Minister of Ministry of Public Security and Director of NIA, sent letters to leaders of the immigration and border control departments of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Viet Nam, as well as to the head of the Executive Committee of the Regional Counter-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RCTS), expressing the willingness to cooperate closely against COVID-19 and to work with each other to reinforce joint control under the backdrop of the pandemic. Human community shares a common future, solidarity is the most powerful weapons in the fight against COVID-19. NIA is actively fulfilling its international obligations, relying on the three-tier border representative contact mechanism to coordinate and promote the establishment of an pandemic-related information notification mechanism, communicating daily with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Nepal, and with Laos and Myanmar instantaneously when occurrence. Additionally, NIA is regularly exchanging information with Mongolia, Russia and Vietnam on the current status of COVID-19 in border areas, port/border control policies , prevention and control measures, data on people in border counties (cities) as well as in-bound and out-bound movements of pandemic-related personnel. At the same time, NIA promotes regular joint border patrols, law enforcement exercises and drills with Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Nepal, together enhances the control of causeways and mountain passes prone to illegal entry and exit activities, coordinates with Mongolia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Vietnam, Nepal and other countries to bolster social control of border areas during this special period, and rigorously combat illegal entry and exit, smuggling, drug trafficking and other illegal cross-border criminal activities, and resolutely blocks channels for the spread of the COVID-19 across the border. NIA has also vigorously assisted the immigration and border control departments of neighboring countries in combating COVID-19, volunteered to provide assistance with pandemic-prevention materials and training in prevention when on work. To date, NIA has provided virus detection reagents, protective clothing, medical masks and other materials worth more than 3 million yuan in total, and has given away more than 1,100 copies of safety and prevention guide for law enforcement officers on duty, as well as video materials on COVID-19 combat work experience. Recently, the leaders of immigration and border control departments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Mongolia, Viet Nam, Laos, Myanmar and Nepal, as well as the head of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS), have replied letters or phone calls to NIA, fully affirming the COVID-19 control measures taken by the Chinese Government and the remarkable results. They also highly appreciated the COVID-19 control border cooperation carried out by NIA. In an article published on the WeChat official account by the Chief of Mission of IOM in China, Mr. Giuseppe CROCETTI , he highly praised the Chinese government for incorporating the needs of migrants into its national public health response mechanism, and called on other countries to adopt inclusive policies, boost mutual understanding and cooperation, and responsibly curb the pandemic.
