Shanghai reports 3 imported COVID-19 cases

SHANGHAI, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai reported three imported cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Sunday, the municipal health commission said Monday.

All of them were Chinese citizens returning Shanghai from countries including Japan and Russia. They have been sent to designated medical institutions for treatment.

A total of 123 people in close contact with the confirmed patients on the flights have been put under quarantine. There were 19 suspected imported cases under screening.

The municipal health commission said a total of 299 imported cases had been reported in Shanghai by Sunday. Among them, 190 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 109 others have remained in hospital for treatment with one of them in critical condition.

On Sunday, no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported. By Sunday, the municipality had reported 339 locally transmitted confirmed cases, including seven deaths.
