SCCI, USIT ink MoU to promote academic, industrial cooperation

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology (USIT) Peshawar have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop academic, industrial and social cooperation and linkages besides carrying out a joint research programme.  The MoU was signed by SCCI President Muhammad Ishaq and USIT Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem ur Rehamn during a ceremony held at the Chamber’s House.

Muhammad Ishaq asserted that this chamber has implemented the 2.0 programme, the first of its kind in Pakistan, whose primary goal is to improve business community capacity building while taking into account modern requirements, providing relief and incentives, and initiatives for business and industry improvement. He emphasised the need of improving the business community’s competencies and skills on modal lines, noting that the SCCI has made practical measures in this respect.

He saw the signing of the MoU with Sarhad University as a component of SCCI’s efforts under the 2.0 vision and strategy, hoping to gain from this massive initiative and pass those advantages along to the business community. Earlier, Muhammad Ishaq described SCCI’s primary goals, importance, role, and efforts that have been made for the business community’s alleviation and welfare.

USIT Vice Chancellor Saleem ur Rehman spoke about the goals and purposes of the MoU. SCCI Senior Vice President Shahid Hussain referred to the MoU as an essential step toward establishing links between industry and academics and expressed the expectation that after this agreement, engagement with the university will be further reinforced.
