February 11, 2021

RIYADH, Feb 10 (INP): Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Chairman of The Red Sea Development Company, has approved the Coral Bloom concept, which was created by lead architect Foster + Partners, and designed to blend in with the island’s pristine natural environment. According to SPA the hotel designs have been responsive to the changing world and traveler demands over the last 12 months as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Biodiversity considerations take center stage, with the plan designed to avoid disruption of the island’s mangroves and other habitats, providing natural defenses from erosion, while new habitats are created through landscaping to enhance the island’s natural state. Eco-friendly designs considering the natural habitats on the island which in fact aim to enhance the flora and fauna present in line with company +30 goal for regenerative tourism. Design accounts for materials and construction processes used to minimize carbon footprint and impact on the destination during construction and operation, in line with company ethos around sustainability. Designs ensure an immersive experience allowing guests to feel at one with the natural environment and enjoy a barefoot luxury experience. Design inspiration was taken from the thriving and unique corals of the Al Wajh lagoon to create an iconic destination which will place Saudi Arabia on the global tourism map, while remaining symbolic of TRSDC’s commitment to these habitats which are under threat globally.
