ISLAMABAD, Jul 4 (INP-WealthPK): The current situation of Pakistan needs foreign Direct Investment. The foreigner delegation from Saudi Arabia and Egypt came to Pakistan for investment purpose in banking and energy sector.
A spokesman in Ministry of Privatization told wealthPk that the foreign investors visited Pakistan and they are interested to invest in few major sectors of Pakistan i.e. financial and energy sector etc.
Spokesman said that the foreign delegation wants to invest in energy sector in Pakistan. Most of the energy sectors includes electricity sectors. i.e. Gujranwala Electric Power Company Limited (GEPCO), Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO), Peshawar Electric Supply Company Limited (PESCO), Multan Electric Power Company Limited (MEPCO), Quetta Electric Supply Company Limited (QESCO), Faisal Electric Supply Company Limited (FESCO) etc.
He further said that there are two power plants that are Balloki Power Plant which have a capacity of 1223MW and Haveli Bahadur Power Plant which have a capacity of 1230 MW and these both power plants are under consideration of foreign investors and the investors also wants to invest in these power plants.
Apart from these there are two other sectors in which the foreign investors want to invest. i.e. Real estate sector and Industrial sector. Real Estate sector includes Services International Hotel Lahore, Jinnah Convention centre Islamabad and Government control property. Spokesman added
He further added that the International investors also interested to invest in industrial sectors including Heavy Electrical Complex (HEC), Pakistan steel mill and Sindh Engineering Limited.
Spokesman said that the financial sector includes First Women Bank, SME bank. Pakistan Re-insurance Co.Ltd.(PakRe) and Housing Building Finance Corporation (HBFC). The first women bank was launche in 1989 and the purpose of this bank was to give loans to women only but unfortunately due to financial issue this bank does not perform well so the foreign investors wants to invest about this bank.
He further said that same position is with SME bank. The financial issues have created hurdles in the proper functioning of the bank. So, the investors take keen interest to invest in this bank also. Pakistan Re-insurance Company Limited was well known company but due lack of management and accounts issues, this company does not perform well.
He said that the HBFC is that organization which was established for the purpose to finance the peoples and to give loans but unfortunately this organization does not perform well. So, the foreign invest also want to invest in this project.
