ISLAMABAD, Jul 27: President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Ali Malik on Wednesday said the only way to address the core issue of trade deficit is to offer another package of incentives to boost exports.

In a statement, he said that ease of doing business initiatives are a key factor behind the sustainable economic growth in the country. All stakeholders must be taken into consideration to tailor result-oriented economic policies to accelerate growth and speed up industrialisation across the country. A well-conceived and balanced export-oriented charter of economy if implemented will usher in an era of prosperity, progress and development, besides improving socio-economic condition of the downtrodden.

Malik said the entire business community has high hopes that the ever-increasing trade deficit would be clipped to stabilise the crumbling national economy on sound footings.

In the statement, he also felicitated Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on assuming the portfolio of Chief Minister of Punjab. He hoped that the new chief minister with diversified experience will contribute towards economic development and introduce tax reforms focusing on promotion of tax culture in every sphere of life.
