Caretaker Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir has said the Punjab government is making use of all available resources to improve the lives of farmers, who are playing a key role in the development of the country. Speaking at a gathering of farmers from the whole division, he said the issues of farmers in Punjab are being heard at the local level and handled as a matter of priority in cooperation with the local government. The government intends to provide farmers with subsidised solar and interest-free financing, he added.

According to Dr Jamal Nasir, farmers' top concerns include the availability of fertilisers at set prices, the provision of water to the last mile, and high-quality seeds, for which revolutionary steps are being implemented. He said the creation of a task force for the agricultural sector's growth in output, and simple access to the market has also been authorised. Funds totalling Rs 1000 million have been approved for research purposes to promote cotton farming. Farmers, who attended the meeting, spoke about the challenges they encountered and offered helpful recommendations for the introduction of wheat and Kinnow pricing, among other things.
