Punjab approves Rs 574 billion for development in six months

The Planning and Development Board (P&D) has made public the report of the previous six months on the ongoing Punjab government’s budget for various districts of the province. According to the report, a total of Rs 574 billion in development funds have been approved at the provincial level during the last six months, of which Rs 467 billion has been released. Rs 248.63 billion has been spent on various development projects.

Additionally, P&D authorised 186.72 billion rupees in funding for South Punjab, and 76.34 billion rupees were already spent on different development initiatives.

Similarly, when it comes to allocating funds to different districts, Lahore is in first place with Rs 49.06 billion, Multan is in second place with Rs 31.31 billion, Faisalabad is in third place with Rs 29.65 billion, Gujarat is in fourth place with Rs 28.13 billion, and Rawalpindi is in fifth place with Rs 15.76 billion.

Speaking to reporters, the chairman of the P&D Board expressed satisfaction with how the funds for continued development were used. He said that to ensure quality work and proper utilisation of public funds, a rigorous quality control mechanism should be established by the administrative departments to fulfil the directions of the Punjab chief minister.
