The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd.’s revenue climbed 6% to PKR71.7 billion in the six months ending June 30, 2022 compared with PKR 67.8 billion in the corresponding period last year. However, the gross profit registered a negative growth of 13% during the six months of CY2022 and remained at PKR15.5 billion from PKR18 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. The net loss increased 204% to PKR3.1 billion compared with a profit of PKR2.93 billion in the corresponding period last year, reports WealthPK.
As of Dec 31, 2021, the President of Pakistan owned 62.18% of the shares of the company, associated companies 26.00%, banks, development financial institutions, and non-banking financial institutions 1.89%, insurance companies 2.15%, modarabas and mutual funds 0.55% and the general public (local) 4.60%, while others held 2.63%.
During the CY 2021, the company maintained a strong sales trend, generating a net sales revenue of PKR76.9 billion with an increase of 7% as against PKR71.8 billion in 2020. The gross profit for the year 2021 was PKR16.5 billion 10% up from PKR15 billion the previous year. Profit after taxation for the year was PKR6.9 billion with a decrease of 14% compared to a profit of PKR6.03 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The earnings per share of the company witnessed a mix of trends during recent years. From 2017 to 2020, the EPS showed a decreasing trend and reached PKR1.18 in 2020, and then increased to PKR1.35 in 2021.
