President calls for promoting fashion products via online marketing

November 16, 2022

President Dr Arif Alvi has said that online and virtual channels should be used to promote Pakistani fashion, textiles, and art and craft items internationally. A greater presence of items on virtual and online marketplaces may assist in the popularisation of Pakistani fashion products, he said while visiting the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design (PIFD). Students need to be given the necessary skills through short-term courses in order to become useful members of society in a short amount of time, he said. He continued by saying that through short-term courses, knowledge and skills are already being imparted around the world to meet market demands.

President Alvi said that employers are hiring people with associate degrees and specialised certificates in various sectors of the economy throughout the world. Universities must implement novel and unconventional approaches to increase the number of graduates and qualified workers. He stressed the necessity for more graduates to use online and virtual learning methods, adding that universities have already begun providing online courses to deliver education to large numbers of students in Western nations, particularly the United States.

In addition to teaching more students more quickly, online education may help lower the cost of education, he added. The PIFD's engagement with national and international institutions and organisations to promote research and innovation in the field of fashion and design, as well as its links between academics and industry, were praised by the president. The president also paid a visit to the theses display and appreciated several student-made items of fashion and design.
