As Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day comes around, preparations have gained momentum across the country to celebrate the Day in a befitting manner. The show of patriotism doesn’t end with flags ? shirts, dresses, balloons and badges, as well as other memorabilia bedecked in the hallmark green and white, emblazoned with the national flag, are a hot commodity as citizens throng the markets, surveying the colorful and quirky offerings. Many stalls with large and small national flags have been set up at Kashmir highway and motorists are purchasing them in big number to adorn them on their vehicles. The business is booming such that the owners sleep at night at the stalls to sell the nationals flag day and night. The enthusiasm of children is at its peak who collect stickers, badges and other items to decorate their bicycles, motor bikes, cars and take round of the city in form of a rally to express their solidarity with the country. However, people complained of the high prices of flags, pictures of national heroes and other stuff like badges, buntings, historical places models ect. INP/AH
