Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the conversion of government buildings in Islamabad from fossil fuels to solar-powered energy. In this regard, he has directed the relevant authorities to formulate a plan as soon as possible and present it before the cabinet for approval. He gave these orders while chairing a meeting of the cabinet committee on energy when he was also briefed on the gas development schemes across the country.

The meeting approved the completion of gas development schemes initiated in 2013-18 under the previous PML-N government. The meeting was attended by the federal ministers for Finance, Planning, Energy and Parliamentary affairs; Advisor, Ahad Cheema; State Minister for Petroleum, and other senior officials from the secretariat.
