Chairman of Punjab Dyes and Chemicals Merchants Association (PDCMA) Khawaja Khawar Rasheed has appreciated Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s decision to remove fuel adjustment charges (FAC) from the electricity bills and demanded its practical implementation, reports WealthPK.
In a statement, he said the government should also abolish the other unjustified taxes in the power bills and refund the huge sums collected from consumers.
He said heavy fuel adjustment charges and taxes in the recent electricity bills had forced consumers to stage protests countrywide. Apart from the business community, the inflated power bills had seriously disturbed the ordinary people, as the charges far exceeded their incomes, leading to nationwide protests.
Khawar said the power bills had seriously dented the government’s reputation and the removal of fuel adjustment charges was a good decision of the prime minister. However, he demanded that the decision should be implemented practically and the unjustified taxes already collected through the electricity bills be refunded to consumers.
