Pakistan’s tobacco exports witness over 74% increase

Pakistan’s tobacco export has witnessed an increase of 74.66% during the first three months of the current fiscal as compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, WealthPK reports.

According to the data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the country exported tobacco worth $13.798 million during the first quarter of the current fiscal as compared to $7.900 million in the same period of the previous financial year.

In terms of quantity, tobacco export also rose by 93.35% from 3,096 metric tonnes to 5,986 metric tonnes. On a year-on-year basis, the export of tobacco from Pakistan increased by 29.39% during the month of September 2022.

The tobacco exports in September 2022 were recorded at $3.500 million against $2.705 million in September 2021.

On a month-on-month basis, the exports of tobacco, however, witnessed a decline of 34.96% in September 2022 as compared to $5.381 million in August 2022, according to the data available with WealthPK.
