September 13, 2022

Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal has said the government was determined to exceed Pakistan’s exports by $100 billion dollars soon.

Chairing a meeting for the promotion of conducive business environment and improvement in exports, he urged the chambers of commerce and industries to assist in increasing exports.

The government will support the business community in their endeavour too, he added. The minister said the solution to Pakistan's economic problems lay in the promotion of the private sector’s investment and exports.

It was need of the hour to connect business with global chairs, he said while urging the business community to adopt a market-driven approach in order to get space in the global market. The improvement in the economy was imperative for the security of the country.

The economy should earn dollars instead of spending them, he added. Ahsan Iqbal said the floods had badly affected the country’s economy, but the government was committed to expediting the rehabilitation process of the flood-affected people. He also asked the business community to provide help in relief operations.

The meeting was attended by the President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs.
