Dunhuang, China, September 19th (INP): Pakistani journalist community has assured the Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) at its meeting held here in Chinese city of Dunhuang on Tuesday that their media houses would be extending full support in implementing the President Xi Jinping’s initiative in achieving global economic development. Representatives of some Pakistani print and electronic media while attending the high profile media forum reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to fully stand by China to develop community of shared destiny under the BRI’s umbrella. The forum, attended by over 300 media personals from 126 countries was arranged by the China’s most influential newspaper, the People’s Daily. The forum was jointly opened by President of People’s Daily Yang Zhenwu and Zhang Ping, vice chairman standing committee of National People’s Congress. It was the highest representative forum being held in China for the fourth consecutive year that aimed at bringing the global media community at one platform to propagate the Cherished objectives of BRI and to motivate the countries situated along the Silk Road to play effective role in the promotion of global economic prosperity. The representatives praised high the initiative of People’s Daily for arranging a viable and most influential media forum to consolidate understanding and cooperation on BRI. They also appreciated the dynamic role of Chinese leadership particularly the contribution of Communist Party of China (CPC) for injecting the new vitality in the world economy through their various initiatives. China has given a new outlook to world economy through BRI that has given a new hope for equal development world over. The participants also underlined the role of media practitioners in meeting common aspirations of people through this initiative. Media, they added is a back-bone of social economic development to promote peace and harmony at the global level. President of the People’s Daily in his opening address said that the BRI contributes knowledge and wisdom to materialize the dream of global economic development and win-win situation for all the countries along the Silk Road. People’s Daily, he added has been holding a media forum successfully from the last four years for providing common platform to the international media community to understand and project the objectives and goals of the BRI. He announced that under this forum, multimedia data base will be established as a source of information for all activities related to BRI. The forum, he said will also work as a Think-Tank to provide intellectual input for expanding the scope of BRI and its implementation at regional and international level. He was of the view that BRI will be a source of peace, prosperity and innovation that could be well achieved through media support at the wider level. The representative also appreciated Pakistan role in promotion of BRI by hoping that it will provide an effective contribution through implementation of China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Pakistani media representative including Managing Director Associated Press of Pakistan Masood Malik, Chief Editor Independent News Pakistan Syed Asif Salahuddin and Gauhar Malik, executive editor of Pakistan Observer in their speeches and remarks at opening ceremony said that BRI – a giant leap taken by China will help transform this region as well as other continents into an oasis of fast and sustainable economic and social development. They added that this initiative will not only help address the festering menace of poverty, but will also provide a viable solution to the chronic problems of unemployment facing the entire world.
