Pakistan Stock Exchange revenue up 5% to Rs1.1bn in 9MFY22

Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited’s revenue increased by 5% to Rs1.1 billion in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2021-22 compared with Rs1.03 billion in the corresponding period of fiscal 2020-21.

The operating profit of the company decreased by 72% during the nine months of FY22 to Rs35.2 million from Rs126.5 million in the corresponding period of FY21.

Similarly, the net profit also decreased 32% to Rs369 million compared with a profit of Rs542 million in the corresponding period of FY21, reports WealthPK.

Annual Results 2020-21

As of June 30, 2021, associated companies owned 5% shares of the company and banks, development financial institutions and non-banking financial institutions held 5.83% of the total shares of the company. Insurance companies held 0.05% shares, modarabas and mutual funds 3.79% shares, general public (local) 10.95% shares, joint stock companies and trusts 29.32% shares and foreign companies held 45.06% shares of the company.

Financial Performance

During the fiscal year 2020-21, the company maintained a strong sales trend generating net sales revenue of Rs1.46 billion with an increase of 49% over Rs982.9 million in 2019-20. The operating profit for 2020-21 stood at Rs86.3 million, 143% up from a loss of Rs199 million the previous year. Profit-after-taxation for the year was Rs696.4 million, showing an increase of 259% over the profit of Rs194 million in FY20.

Earnings Per Share

 

The earnings per share of the company steadily increased from 2018 to 2020, before taking a big stride in 2021, reaching Rs0.87. The company engages in the buying, selling and dealing of shares, scripts, participation term certificates, modaraba certificates, stocks, bonds, debentures stock, government papers, loans and any other instruments and securities of similar nature, including but not limited to special national fund bonds, bearer national fund bonds, foreign exchange bearer certificates and documents of similar nature, issued by the government of Pakistan.
