Pakistan reports 3,842 new COVID-19 cases, 75 deaths

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan reported 3,842 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Sunday.

The center said that the country's number of overall confirmed cases has risen to 1,123,812, including 1,009,555 recoveries.

The disease has killed 75 people over the last 24 hours, increasing the overall death toll to 24,923, the NCOC said, adding that 5,301 are in critical condition.

Pakistan's southern Sindh province is the most affected region of the country with 419,810 infections, followed by the eastern Punjab province which has reported 379,574 cases.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has administered 46,456,077 doses of vaccine so far. A total of 915,856 doses have been administered over the last 24 hours, according to the NCOC.
