Pakistan produced 19.7 million phones between Jan-Nov 2022

Pakistan produced 19.7 million mobile phones from January to November 2022. Some 8.2 million gadgets produced in the first 11 months of 2022 were smartphones, while 11.5 million mobiles were 2G devices, according to the official data of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). About 1.56 million mobile phones were assembled in November 2022, compared to 1.44 million in October 2022, registering a growth of 8.3%.

PTA data shows that Pakistan imported 1.37 million mobile phones in the first 11 months of 2022. Some 80,000 mobile phones were imported in November 2022, compared to 50,000 in October 2022. The import of mobile phones increased by 60% in November 2022.

In November 2022, some 0.57 million manufactured mobiles were smartphones, compared to 0.39 million mobile phones in October 2022, registering 46.15% monthly growth. Although, the 2G devices growth is 40% higher than smartphones in 11 months of year 2022, in November 2022, 2G device showed a declining trend, as 0.99 million manufactured devices were 2G compared to 1.05 million in October 2022, PTA data depicts. In the previous month, 1.44 million mobile phones were local factory made compared to 1.09 million in September 2022, registering a growth of 32.1%.

The PTA data shows that 45% of 2G devices and 55% of smartphones are presently connected to Pakistan’s network. According to the top 10 local manufacturing companies’ performance in the first 11 months of 2022, itel Mobile is at the top by assembling 2.74 million mobile devices, while VGO TEL produced 2.10 million devices, vivo assembled 1.66 million mobiles, Infinix manufactured 1.61 million phones, Nokia produced 1.30 million mobile phones, Oppo assembled 1.25 million mobile phones, Samsung produced 1.17 million devices, TECHNO assembled 1.05 million phones, E-TACHI assembled 1.03 million, and QMobile manufactured 1 million phones each, according to PTA data. Pakistan manufactured 24.66 million mobile phones, during the calendar year 2021, compared to 13.05 million in 2020, indicating an 88% increase.
