Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan to work together for increasing tourism

November 04, 2022

Adviser to Prime Minister for Political and Public Affairs and National Heritage and Culture Engineer Amir Muqam has said there is great potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan in the tourism sector.

There is plenty to learn about Pakistan's stunning landscape, which extends from steep mountain ranges in the north to beautiful coasts in the south, he said addressing an event on Education, Culture and Tourism. The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture, and Adviser Private Limited on Education, Culture and Tourism.

Amir reaffirmed his firm belief that tourism can significantly advance both the promotion of peace and the battle against terrorism. He recommended setting up direct flights between the two nations.

The two leaders emphasised the need for closer cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and people-to-people contacts during the prime minister's recent visit to Kyrgyzstan, he said. They also met at the Council of Heads of States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and put a lot of emphasis on advancing high-level interactions, legislative relationships, and defence and security links, he added.

Amir Muqam said that the importance of bilateral trade between the two nations is important. Pakistan's exports to Kyrgyzstan totalled $ 2.81 million in the previous year, with pharmaceutical products accounting for the majority of such exports, followed by sporting goods.

The medical schools and colleges in Kyrgystan are home to over 11,000 students, he said.

Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan Ulanbek Totuiaev emphasised the importance of holding the event to advance bilateral ties. He emphasised the need of fostering mutually beneficial economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations between the two nations.

He said the cordial relations between the two countries are evident from the fact that thousands of Pakistani students are studying at Kyrgyz universities.

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, Managing Director Aftab Ur Rehman Rana discussed the potential for tourism in Pakistan and the measures the government has taken in that direction. He also shed light on the Pak-Kyrgyz cultural relations.
