ISLAMABAD, Jul 20: Pakistan is fast shifting towards 'plastic money system' as part of digitalisation of economy in order to facilitate customers by providing them with a hassle-free banking environment.
“Around 4000 paper-based payment systems will be digitalised by the end of this year,” Head of Prime Minister’s Strategic Reforms Salman Sufi told WealthPK. He said by the end of July, Interior Ministry's Directorate General of Immigration and Passport (DGIP) would officially launch an App through which all passport payments will be made online. “This App will be available in App stores as well as on passport office's website page from where eligible citizens could download it and can make payments online,” he added.
The senior official said the online payment system is gaining traction in Pakistan which will change the banking landscape. He said under the government’s vision of economic digitalisation, a silent digital payment revolution is on its way in Pakistan.
