Pakistan Earns $508m From Transportation Services’ Exports in 8MFY22

By Irfan Ahmed ISLAMABAD, April 22 (INP-WealthPK): Pakistan earned $508.015 million by providing various transportation services to multiple countries during the first eight months (July-February) of the fiscal year 2021-22, showing a growth of 26.71%. The country earned $400.940 million during the same period of the last fiscal year, reports WealthPK, quoting figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Similarly, transport services exports decreased by 0.07% month-on-month to $69.980 million in February 2022 from $70.030 million in January 2021. [caption id="attachment_66330" align="aligncenter" width="696"] Source: PBS website/WealthPk research[/caption] Sea transport services exports witnessed an increase of 51.42% to reach $84.860 million during July-February 2021-22 from $56.130 million during the same period of last year. Among the sea transport services, exports of freight services increased by 99.46% to reach $44.660 million from $22.390 million last year, whereas exports of other sea transport services increased by 19.15%, coming up from $33.740 million last year to $40.200 million this year. Sea transport services exports increased by 272.36% year-on-year to $16.570 million in February 2022 from $4.450 million in February 2021. Sea transport services exports decreased by 0.72% month-on-month to $16.570 million in February 2022 compared with $16.690 million in January 2021. Exports of air transport services rose by 25.45% to reach $407.435 million during the July-February period of 2021-22, going up from $325.030 million during the same period of last year. Among the air transport services, exports of passenger services increased by 23.55% to $264.350 million from $213.970 million last year, whereas exports of freight services increased by 2.55% from $20.400 million last year to $20.940 million this year. In addition, exports of other air transport services increased by 35.08% to $122.465 million from $90.660 million. Air transport services exports increased by 23.44% year-on-year to $51.640 million in February 2022 from $41.835 million during the same month last year. Air transport services exports decreased by 1.38% month-on-month to $51.640 million in February 2022 compared with $52.360 million in January 2021. Meanwhile, exports of road transport services during the July-February period of 2021-22 witnessed a decline of 20.37%, going down from $12.960 million to $10.320million. Among the road transport services, exports of freight services decreased by 75.44%, going down from $9.610 million to $2.360 million, while the exports of postal and courier services also decreased by 25.22%, going down from $6.820 million to $5.100 million, the PBS data shows. Similarly, road transport services exports increased by 75.51% month-on-month to $860 million in February 2022 from $490 million in January 2021. Exports of postal and courier services decreased by 25.22% to $5.100 million during July-February 2021-22 from $6.820 million during the same period of last year. Postal and courier services exports increased by 102.22% year-on-year to $910 million in  February 2022 from $450 million during the same month last year. Road transport services exports increased by 75.51% month-on-month to $860 million in February 2022 from $490 million in January 2021.
