Pakistan Earns $434m Thru Transport Services Exports in 7MFY22

By Irfan Ahmed ISLAMABAD, April 19 (INP-WealthPK): Pakistan earned $434 million by providing various transportation services in multiple countries during the first seven months (July-January) of the fiscal year 2021-22, showing a growth of 23.32%. The country earned $351.935 million during the same period of last fiscal year, reports WealthPK, quoting figures of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). [caption id="attachment_66203" align="aligncenter" width="696"] Source: PBS website/WealthPk research[/caption] Exports of sea transport services witnessed an increase of 29.62% to reach $66.990 million during July-January 2021-22 from $51.680 million during the same period of last year. Among the sea transport services, exports of freight services increased by 96.03% to reach $38.500 million from $19.640 million last year, whereas exports of other sea transport services decreased by 11.08%, coming down from $32 million last year to $28.490 million this year. Sea transport services exports increased by 83.69% year-on-year to $381.520 million in January 2022 from $207.697 million in January 2021. Sea transport services exports increased by 3.92% month-over-month to $381.520 million in January 2022 compared with $367.135 million in December 2021. Exports of air transport rose by 29.96% to reach $353.375 million in July-January period of 2021-22, going up from $283.195 million during the same period of last year. Among the air transport services, exports of passenger services increased by 27.63% to $232.690 million from $182.320 million last year, whereas exports of freight services dipped by 4.93% from $19.060 million last year to $18.120 million this year. In addition, exports of other air transport services increased by 25.36% to $102.656 million from $81.815 million. Air transport services exports increased by 218.45% year-on-year to $100.056 million in January 2022 from $31.420 million during the same month last year. Air transport services exports decreased by 4.33% month-on-month to $100.056 million in January 2022 compared with $104.580 million in December 2021. Meanwhile, exports of road transport services during the period under review witnessed a decline of 11.51% going down from $10.690 million to $9.460 million. Among the road transport services, exports of freight services decreased by 73.25%, going down from $7.440 million to $1.990 million, while the exports of postal and courier services also decreased by 34.22%, going down from $6.370 million to $4.190 million, the PBS data revealed. Road transport services exports increased by 88.76% year-on-year to $13.121 million in January 2022 from $6.951 million in January 2021. Road transport services exports decreased by 31.87% month-over-month to $13.121 million in January 2022 from $19.260 million in December 2021. Exports of postal and courier services decreased by 31.49% to $4.190 million during July-January 2021-22 from $6.370 million during the same period of last year. Postal and courier services exports decreased by 66.67% year-on-year to $2.310 million in  January 2022 from $6.930 million during the same month last year. Road transport services exports decreased by 42.54% month-over-month to $2.310 million in January 2022 from $4.020 million in December 2021.
